GC All-England Handicap Qualifier
Won by Thomas Halliday
Five Enfield players - David Frost (-1), Andrew Fall (4), Thomas Halliday (8), David Warren (12), and Robert Sheppard (14) - congregated under the gazebo expecting scattered showers, before the rain descended in sometimes monsoon-like conditions. The all-play-all format went ahead nonetheless, with each player glad of a bye round in which they could sit down and drip dry.
Clubs gain one qualifier to the area final for every four players that enter their internal competition, so the unusually low turnout this year meant that only one place was up for grabs. In the end, this went to Thomas Halliday, who won all four of his matches to qualify for the Area Final at Surbiton on the 5th of August, with the chance then to qualify for the National Final in September.
Results as follows
1st - T. Halliday - 4 wins - 28 hoops for - 13 hoops against
2nd - A. Fall - 3 wins - 25 for - 21 against
3rd - D. Warren - 2 wins - 19 for - 21 against
4th - D. Frost - 1 win - 18 for - 26 against
5th - R. Sheppard - 0 wins - 16 for - 28 against

Enfield’s GC Level Play Knockout Competition.
Won by Henry Hobbs
28 September
Many congratulations to Henry Hobbs.
Henry’s route to the final included wins over John Street 7 - 6 and David Barnicoat 7 - 2.
Whilst his opponent on Thursday 27th was Brian Dawes who made it to the final by beating Peter Brock 7 - 5 and David Frost 7 - 5 two days earlier.
The match was played on a lovely peaceful morning with no other soul in sight other than the odd disinterested squirrel or two. The game was evenly contested and swung one way then the other throughout.
Both contestants declared it a highly enjoyable match and felt it fitting that it had gone to Golden Hoop before a win could be achieved.
