We’re so pleased you’ve come to the website to see more about croquet. If you were not able to make our April Taster Training Sessions, you can still learn to play - please contact our friendly course organiser, Suzanne Twomey to book a free session - email: course@enfieldcroquet.org

Croquet is part of the family of precision sports, alongside snooker, darts, or bowls, and is played both socially and competitively. There are two internationally-recognised codes: Association Croquet and Golf Croquet, both of which are played at the club.

The game does not require strength, stamina, or speed and is a game of precision, accuracy and strategy. Once you try it, you'll never look back. Croquet is ideal for both men and women and the introductory course we run provides a fantastic opportunty to play this delightful outdoor sport.

All equipment is provided, with coaching by senior members of the club; flat shoes or trainers are the only requirement. As our weather is not predictable, always good to wear layers and have a waterproof jacket to hand.

Following your training session(s) you will be offered membership for one month at a special one-off fee of £25 so you can see if you enjoy it enough to join as a full member. If so, this cost will be deducted from the annual full membership fee (currently £160) which covers 1st April to 31st March.

We also offer an Evening and Weekend annual membership for those who can’t play during the day - Monday to Friday.

The Evening and Weekend Membership costs £80 per annum and enables people to play:

Monday to Friday: From 5 pm

 Saturday: All day

 Sunday: From 12 noon*

*The lawns are usually cut on a Sunday morning

Anyone taking out this membership will not be able to take part in internal competitions that take place on a weekday, or be picked for teams playing external competitions.

There is also an annual membership of £30 for Under 18s and Full Time Students. Please note that Under 18s would have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian when on the lawns.

SESSIONS

You will soon be practising the basic shots needed to play and control the croquet balls. Even on your first session, you will take part in a team of doubles in a full game of golf croquet and we hope you will be able to appreciate and enjoy the strategy and fun of the competitive game.
