Day 3
Thursday 11 October
The contractors seeded all three lawns this morning with 100kg of seed, specially chosen because it germinates at low temperatures, and then top dressed them with 20 tons of topsoil. Meanwhile, Fiona and Andrew cleared leaves off the lawns and continued moving the scarification spoil heap off the meadow area and into the shrubberies.
The only remaining work is to brush and lute the new soil to ensure as flat a finish as possible, and repair any holes or scrapes that the top-dressing machine has missed. This is happening next Monday 15 October, although the lawn will be lightly watered before then to encourage the new seed to germinate in the warm weather.
After Monday, we will need to water and keep the lawns moist for 8-10 days, so please look out for an email about a watering rota and sign up to help.
