Enfield Croquet Club - 1993 to 2023 Celebrating 30 Glorious Years
Enfield Croquet Club - 1993 to 2023Celebrating 30 Glorious Years
Introductory Course
Details of the next course are to be announced but herewith an introduction to what it's all about!
Croquet is part of the family of precision sports, alongside snooker, darts, or bowls, and is played both socially and competitively. There are two internationally-recognised codes: Association Croquet and Golf Croquet, both of which are played at the club.
The game does not require strength, stamina, or speed and is a game of precision, accuracy and strategy. Once you try it, you'll never look back.   Croquet is ideal for both men and women and the introductory course we would run provides a fantastic opportunty to play this delightful outdoor sport.
All equipment is provided, with coaching by senior members of the Club; flat shoes or trainers are the only requirement. As our weather is not predictable, always good to wear layers and have a waterproof jacket to hand.

The courses run along the following lines.  You will be welcomed with a hot drink at 9.45am and introduced to other attendees and invited to try out a croquet mallet for size.  Sessions last about two hours.  It is recommended that you attend at least two sessions.  Please note that there are public toilets very close to the lawns, and toilets can also be accessed in the nearby Club Hut.

You will soon be practising the basic shots needed to play and control the croquet balls. Even on your first session, you will take part in a team of doubles in a full game of golf croquet and we hope you will be able to appreciate and enjoy the strategy and fun of the competitive game.

The Club's lawns (courts) are located within Bush Hill Park Recreation Ground, postal code EN1 1PS.  See map on our How To Find Us page

For road, rail and bus links see our How To Find Us page.

We hope that by the end of the introductory course on 18 April, you will find that you enjoy the sport, have improved your play and feel keen enough to join the Club*. There is no obligation whatsover to do so, but for information the yearly subscription for the current year is £130: the Club currently maintains about 50-60 members.

* The Club may exceptionally reserve the right to refuse membership.
